Information for the 2027 UBC Physics Olympics

The 2027 Physics Olympics will be held in-person on Saturday, February 27th, 2027 on UBC campus. We look forward to seeing you!
November 5, 2026: Registration is filling up! We now have more spots left for those teams interested in joining us this year. Please note that we will be clearing out multiple or incomplete registrations. For any questions, please email outreach@phas.ubc.ca.
This in-person Physics Olympics will consist of 6 events: two Pre-builds, two labs, Quizzics(!), and Fermi Questions.
Pre-build rules will be available by January. The general rules will be similar to those from previous years, and will be uploaded on our website by the end of January. Meanwhile, we recommend that teams look over past Rule books and get started with preparing for Quizzics and Fermi Questions. This competition is for schools and programs that are registered with the Province of BC (http://www.bced.gov.bc.ca/apps/imcl/imclWeb/Home.do). Our capacity is limited to 84 school teams. Therefore, we will register only one team/school and all second teams will be placed on a waitlist until the cancellation deadline, after which we will contact the waitlist groups if spots are available. Registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis.
If there are spots available for second teams, note that we will only register a second team if the first team has a minimum of 15 students. We will give no guarantees that there will be spots available for second teams. If you would like to register a second team from your school, please fill out an additional registration form and select “this registration is for a second team from my school”. The second team will be placed on the waitlist until the cancellation deadline, after which we will contact the waitlist groups as spots are available, on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Registration and Payment
Payment of Registration Fee: from your registration form, you will be redirected automatically to our payment site. Only the teams who have paid the registration in full will be considered registered.
Registration/Cancellation Deadline: The registration and payment for your team(s) must be received by Friday, February 5th, 2027. We will accept cancellations until Friday, February 12th, 2027, after which no cancellation or refund will be allowed.
Privacy Statement: Your personal information is collected under the authority of section 26(e) of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA). This information will be used for the purpose of providing and improving UBC Physics & Astronomy Outreach Program activities. All information that identifies you will be kept confidential.
